Bishop Burton has a number of thriving societies and groups. For a full list see Village Groups

The Bishop Burton Golf Society meets once or twice each year and we play on courses in the area. There is no membership fee and both men and women are members of the society. Everyone is welcome whatever their standard of golf.

The Bishop Burton Bowls Club has 16 members and on average 12 play each week. We meet on Wednesday nights from 7.00 pm to 9.00pm. We charge £1 per player which covers the hire of the hall and tea with biscuits. New members are always welcome.

The Monday Club (latterly the Bishop Burton Country Friends) group is for women and men of the village. It meets once a month, usually the 2nd Monday in the month at 7.30pm in the village hall (doors open 7.15pm) to hear talks on a wide range of subjects that appeal to both men and women and a wide age range. At the end of the talk tea/coffee and biscuits are served.

Membership is £10 for the year, or you can come along to any you fancy for £2 a go. We hope you will find something that appeals to you and come and join us.
We would love to see you there. Everyone is welcome.

The Readers Group is for anyone who wants to share their experience of good (and bad!) books. We try to read a book each month that we then discuss in the pub. To find out more contact Gina Douthwaite.

This is a society that started on 19th January 2010. Anyone can join in - no expertise is required. Contact Bryn Jones if you're interested. There's a forum on the web site but not much on it yet. The group stopped meeting in 2012 but it may be resurrected if there is a demand.

The Bishop Burton Village Choir was established at the beginning of 2012. It is a mixed choir and is open to any villager or other persons vaguely or otherwise connected with the village. Its musical director is Heidi Knight and its accompanist Rachel Best. If you are interested in the choir please contact Bryn Jones on 01964 550255 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . We meet Tuesday evenings in term-time at the Granary, Westfield farm.
